Horseback riding

Horseback riding

Approximately 6 times a year it is possible to ride one of the horses of De Helderse Vallei during an event or an activity. Our horses are held by one of our animal keepers; therefore, no riding experience is necessary. The calendar lists when this activity is organised. Text on the calendar is provided in Dutch since all our activities are offered in Dutch.

Horses are not permitted on the beach in Den Helder from 1 May to 1 October between 09.00 and 19.00.

A Horses-P has been set up on the grounds of De Helderse Vallei, where horses from private individuals can be temporarily stalled to give you time, for example, to visit the Visitors’ Centre.

Den Helder has official bridle paths; they run around the Grafelijkheidsduinen and from beach 1 at Huisduinen to beach 3 at Duinoord. There is also a bridle path along the canoe route and there is a lot of riding in Mariendal. Click here for a map with bridle paths.

For more information on bridle paths and trail rides please contact local riding stables: there are three riding stables where outdoor or indoor rides can be booked: Manege BruinStal Van Haaster en De Jong and Manege Noot. Please contact the riding stables for options and conditions.
